How does it work?

CAT participants for Kathak and Bharatanatyam style attend residential training during their half-term and summer holidays at DanceXchange studios in Birmingham which is provided by the Subject Leaders. Participants should also undertake weekly training from a local dance teacher to strengthen their training. A student bursary is available to help support this additional training.

The students will also attend a summer intensive, which combines students from both strands and culminates in an exciting performance. This is a great way to end the term and allows to students transfer the skills they have acquired and developed over the course of the term, into performance. It also gives students the opportunity to team up with and learn from students from other dance disciplines.

Each participant has an Individual Training Plan devised in consultation withparents/ guardian and local dance teacher to support the student’s learning, and ensure balance is maintained between the demands of school work and dance studies.

High quality teaching

The Subject Leaders for the CAT programme are Sujata Banerjee for Kathak and Anusha Subramanyam for Bharatanatyam; both of them bring in a wealth of experience and expertise.
