Centre for Advanced Training for South Asian and Contemporary Dance
The West Midlands is the home of the UK’s first ever Centre for Advanced Training for South Asian and Contemporary Dance (CAT). A partnership between DanceXchange and sampad South Asian Arts, the CAT is aimed at young dancers aged between 11 and 16 who have shown exceptional talent in Contemporary or South Asian styles.
Alongside technical training our students have the unique opportunity to work on:
- Performance skills
- Core fitness
- Choreography and dance appreciation.
The programme enables them to make informed choices about their future involvement in dance and equip them with the necessary skills for professional dance training and/or higher education.
Students who pass the audition process and are offered a place on the scheme can access means tested grants from the Music and Dance Scheme to help cover the fees for the project.
