Emily Pottage

Born in Nottingham, Emily trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, graduating with a 1st Class Honours Degree in 2013. During her second year at Rambert, Emily received the Charlotte Kirkpatrick Prize, awarded in recognition of effort, talent and exceptional potential for a future career within the dance industry.

Emily joined NDCWales as an apprentice dancer in 2013, performing in works by Stephen Shropshire, Angelin Preljocaj, and Christopher Bruce. Since leaving NDCWales Emily has been working as a freelance dancer with many companies such as, Rambert Dance Company, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, and Joss Arnott Dance.

In 2015 Emily joined Shobana Jeyasingh for the creation and tour of Royal Opera House Commission, Bayadere – The Ninth Life. Later that year Emily joined Joss Arnott Dance performing Wide Awakening with Dame Evelyn Glennie and the solo V. Emily continued working with Joss Arnott dance until 2018 performing in 3 national tours. She then went on to join the tour of Contagion with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance performing at sight specific locations including The Imperial War Museum, Manchester and The British Library, London.

During 2019 Emily performed at Sadler’s Wells with Alexander Whitley and Gandini Juggling in Spring, then went on to perform as The Leprechaun in Cendrillon at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In early 2020 she joined for Scottish Opera for Nixon in China.

With over 10 years of teaching experience Emily has worked with a wide range of schools, companies and organisations. She has taught workshops for all the companies she has performed in, taught ballet and contemporary classes to local schools, vocational schools as well as professional and company classes. Emily completed her Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 and has been teaching regular classes in various areas since then.

Emily has recently taught on the Dance4 CAT programme and is excited to connect with Dance4 and DanceXchange in this new venture.
