THIS CLASS HAS LIMITED CAPACITY AND TICKETS CAN ONLY BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE ONLINE. Please read DanceXchange’s Covid-19 safety procedures to ensure you can return to the studio with us safely. You should only attend if you can present evidence of a negative Lateral Flow Test taken no more than 24 hours prior to your arrival.

Students will explore the basic principles of coordination, strength, body alignment and flexibility to begin to build strength and stamina.

Improvers will have the opportunity to develop further with more challenging movements, including floor work and more difficult travelling and jumping sequences.

Studio Class FAQs

Our staff members will be there to guide you and answer any questions you may have.

Step 1: Ensure you arrive with evidence (text or email) of a NEGATIVE rapid lateral flow test result. Without this, you will be unable to enter the building so please remember to do this the day of your class. You can order free test kits here: www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

Step 2: Wearing your mask, you will enter the building using the main staircase/lift to access Level 5.

Step 3: Check in at reception and sanitise your hands before entering the studio where you can remove your mask if you would like to. Please remember our changing/shower facilities are not open at this time so do come to class changed and ready to go!

Step 4: At the end of your class, you will be able to head out through the main staircase/lift.

Please ensure you are on time, if you are more than 15 minutes late to class you won’t be able to access the studio.

When you buy online you will need to set up your account via our booking system. To book classes online please click here or click the shopping cart icon in the header of the website to access the account registration process and follow the simple set-up instructions.

Once purchased, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the class/event is cancelled. All tickets will be offered subject to availability at the time of booking. Please give us a call us on 0121 667 6730 to discuss further.
Anything comfortable that lets you move freely. You can wear tracksuit bottoms, leggings & t-shirts for most classes. Please wear light-soled trainers or dance shoes (if you have them), Contemporary and yoga classes are bare feet.

We don’t have lockers so please take all your valuable possessions with you into the studio from the changing rooms.
Yes, please bring your refillable water bottle with you. You can take bottles with you into the studios.
You won’t be allowed to join a class if you’re more than 10 minutes late. This is because you’ll have missed the warm-up, which increases your chance of injury.

Shelley Eva Haden

Contemporary Teens Tutor (she/her)

Shelley Eva Haden was a nominee for The National Dance Awards as “Most outstanding female performer of 2017” voted by the Critics Circle (2018).

Shelley trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating in 2014 with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance Performance, achieving outstanding results and becoming the first to achieve 100% on the Final Years Solo Choreography Assessment. Shelley’s choreography ‘Silver Shelter’ is part of the school repertoire for students to study and perform as part of their ‘Performance Practice Module’ (2014-present)

Shelley has performed with many contemporary choreographers/companies as well as commercial, film and TV work. She has toured internationally with credits including the likes of; Sam Amos (Trash Dolly’s Dance Theatre), Jamaal Burkmar,(Extended Play), Gary Clarke (Gary Clarke Company), Corey Baker (Corey Baker Dance Company), Rhiannon Faith, Tamsin Fitzgerald (2faced Dance Company), Keisha Grant (Keneish Dance), Rosie Kay (Rosie Kay Dance Company), Rachel Lopez (Dog Kennel Hill Project).

With over 9 years teaching experience within the participatory setting, Shelley has worked with a range of participants and companies, including Birmingham Royal Ballet, Birmingham Opera Company, DanceXchange, CAT (Centre For Advance Training: The Place, DanceXchange, NSDC, Birmingham Dance Network (Professional Class), DanceFest, Pineapple and many other schools, universities and institutes.

​Shelley continues to explore and create her own work, delving into various commissions, workshops, and research periods. Shelley’s choreographic practice is supported by many organisations including Arts Council England and Dance Hub Birmingham.

Furthermore, Shelley is a passionate Kick Boxer, a face of Birmingham Dance Network and a qualified Deep Tissue Sports Massage Therapist.
