You should only attend if you can present evidence of a negative Lateral Flow Test taken no more than 24 hours prior to your arrival.

These musical tap classes will be high energy and lots of fun. The class will focus on musical theatre choreography, giving a taste of the theatre as well as improving our tap dance technique. Each week will be a different routine, exploring different styles of tap-inspired by stage productions.

Studio Class FAQs

Our staff members will be there to guide you and answer any questions you may have.

Step 1: Ensure you arrive with evidence (text or email) of a NEGATIVE rapid lateral flow test result. Without this, you will be unable to enter the building so please remember to do this the day of your class. You can order free test kits here:

Step 2: Wearing your mask, you will enter the building using the main staircase/lift to access Level 5.

Step 3: Check in at reception and sanitise your hands before entering the studio where you can remove your mask if you would like to. Please remember our changing/shower facilities are not open at this time so do come to class changed and ready to go!

Step 4: At the end of your class, you will be able to head out through the main staircase/lift.

Please ensure you are on time, if you are more than 15 minutes late to class you won’t be able to access the studio.

When you buy online you will need to set up your account via our booking system. To book classes online please click here or click the shopping cart icon in the header of the website to access the account registration process and follow the simple set-up instructions.

Once purchased, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the class/event is cancelled. All tickets will be offered subject to availability at the time of booking. Please give us a call us on 0121 667 6730 to discuss further.
Anything comfortable that lets you move freely. You can wear tracksuit bottoms, leggings & t-shirts for most classes. Please wear light-soled trainers or dance shoes (if you have them), Contemporary and yoga classes are bare feet.


No, these are currently closed until further notice.
We don’t have lockers so please take all your valuable possessions with you into the studio from the changing rooms.
Yes, please bring your refillable water bottle with you. You can take bottles with you into the studios.
You won’t be allowed to join a class if you’re more than 10 minutes late. This is because you’ll have missed the warm-up, which increases your chance of injury.

Helen Mason

Musical Tap Tutor (she/her)

Helen gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance and Visual Practice from Brighton University (2002) and a PGCE teacher training qualification from Nottingham Trent University (2006). Since Graduating Helen’s worked as dancer, choreographer and teacher. Helen has taught for 18 years in a variety of settings such as; care homes, hostels and foyers, day centres, youth groups, schools and F.E colleges, including being a course leader and tutor on Btec, G.C.S.E, A’level and Degree Dance courses in both Nottingham and Birmingham.

Helen is the Artistic Director of Squirm Dance Company and creates work for an ‘everybody’ audience in unusual venues. Squirm creates high quality entertaining and inclusive performances and workshops for the community and National festival events. Helen believes everyone should have access to dance and this value runs through all the work Helen produces. Squirm have been commissioned for a number of performances including The Birmingham Weekender, The National wheelchair basketball opening and closing ceremonies and The Birmingham International Dance Festival.

Helen set up Freewheelin Dance in 2017, Birmingham’s first wheelchair and inclusive dance group. Freewheelin have gone on to perform locally and Nationally and have won a number of competitions including the Para Dance UK National Championships in 2018 and 2019 and for hiphop teams section of the International Open Inclusive Dance Festival 2021. Alongside opportunities provided by The Dance Hub to train with Axis Dance Company in America, Helen has further developed her teaching practice with physical and learning disabled participants and is now regularly leading sessions with Cerebral Palsy Midlands, Spectrum Day care and Midland Mencap to name just a few. Helen also teaches Contemporary and Tap dance at The Midland Art Centre.

Helen is an advocate for Inclusive dance and has appeared in a film for Parable Dance which discusses what is good practice and has spoken at the House of Lords about making physical activity in Britain more inclusive. Helen  has recently been selected to be mentored by Omari Carter to create an inclusive dance film this summer supported by Dancexchange.
