THE PARTICIPATION PRODUCER ROLE

The Participation Producer will co-ordinate, produce and deliver agreed programme areas within Critical Mass in close collaboration with a wider creative team, and will also produce key aspects of BIDF’s substantial participatory programme, and future legacy projects. The role will have a particular focus on region-wide participation projects, ensuring meaningful, inclusive, and inspirational participation experiences for all.

We would like to hear from producers with extensive experience of partnership working in youth and community settings, and a proven track record of developing, producing and managing large-scale participatory dance performances and events, ideally in outdoor locations. You will need excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; highly developed organisational and administration skills; strong budget management skills; the ability to work effectively under pressure; and a collaborative, proactive, positive and self-motivated approach. If you feel you fit our brief, we’d love to hear from you!

ABOUT CRITICAL MASS

Critical Mass is an ambitious 14-month long inclusive dance participation project that sits at the heart of the Games’ cultural plans. Generously supported by the Spirit of 2012 (the 2012 Olympic legacy fund), the project will see 300 young people, from across the West Midlands, with and without disabilities, come together through a sustained process of dance and skills development workshops, before taking centre stage at a number of high-profile events during the 2022 programme, including the opening show of the arts festival, and the Games’ Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

ABOUT BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL (BIDF)

Produced by DanceXchange, BIDF is a major biennial festival which takes over the city’s theatres, streets and squares with show-stopping performances and engaging choreography.  For more details visit here

Following its postponement in 2020 due to Covid-19, BIDF has returned this June with an exclusive all-digital programme, which will be followed by live editions in Autumn 2021 and Summer 2022, featuring an outdoor programme, local touring, youth engagement and co-productions.
