Who is it for?

The opportunity is open to youth dance groups, schools, community groups, private dance schools and any others who have a dance group of passionate young people aged 11-19, and disabled young people up to the age of 25.

What does it involve?

For each festival, dancers come together from all over the West Midlands to take part in masterclasses led by industry professionals and the day accumulates in groups performing their work in a professional venue. This is a great chance to meet other dancers in the region and get involved with high-quality dance!

How do I apply?

You will need to submit

  • a completed Application Form
  • footage of the piece you propose to perform
NB: It doesn’t need to be a finished and polished piece, but we do need to see enough of the piece to get an idea of what it will eventually look like on stage (you can use the application form to write details about this too).

How does U.Dance WM link to the National U.Dance?

When groups apply, they will be asked if they wish to be put forward to U Dance. Around 10 groups are currently selected to take part in U.Dance WM and 3 are put forwards to the national stage U Dance (if they would like to) by a regional judging panel. The national panel will then select one group out of the three to perform. Please note the same group can’t be selected two years in a row to perform as the West Midlands representative in the national festival.
